Etipothala Falls

Etipothala is located around 170 Kms from Hydearbad or 20 Kms from Nagarjuna sagar, a well known tourist place in AP. We left Hyderabad on Saturday evening and reached Nagarjuna sagar at night.  Though not much options for good accomodation, we had to stay at an old government hotel, as we didn't book in advance. My bad again :(

Got up early next day, started heading towards Etipothala by crossing the majestic Nagarjuna dam. We are one of the few to reach the falls very early and bath for more than 2 hours :) What a refreshing bath it was. Wish i would go again just for that bath :)

The falls looks milky white with clear water. It was told that an "Illusion" causing to look white but honestly i dont know how. It falls at two places from a reasonable height, surrounded with loads of greenery and flows in-between huge mountains. Treat for your eyes!

If you walk towards the flow, there are two small temples built, one on the ground and other on the mountain.  Going to the top of the mountain (from the temple) is too risky as you have to climb a 6 feet steep rock without any support.

There are some historic sites of buddhist excavations found in and around these places. One of such a place is "Anupu", 8 Kms from Nagarjuna sagar. Also, this place has a fantastic scenery with three sides surrounded by mountain and water in between. Worth visiting.

A 45 minutes boat ride in the Nagarjuna sagar to a nearby island is quite enjoyable if you are interested in seeing some buddhist stuffs. Make sure to carry water bottles as you may go exhaust. Also we struggled to find an ATM, so carry enough money with you :)
